Demi Lovato Overdoses After 6 Years of Sobriety

demi lovato overdoses after 6 years after sobriety

Overdoses happen every day, pretty much all over the country. Blue-collar workers, affluent families, families who are barely getting by, actors, actresses, and famous singers alike are ALL susceptible to drug overdoses. It’s not the guy under the bridge shooting up who’s dying. It’s literally anyone who’s using drugs, whether it be pills, heroin, or someone intentionally seeking out fentanyl. I know it’s like beating a dead horse at this point, but I still need to drive the point home that it doesn’t matter who you are, how you were raised, or where you’re from, everyone is equally able to die from drugs as the next person. Lately, Hollywood has seen its share of addiction and the fallout that comes with it. Over the last two years, we’ve lost quite a few A-list celebrities to apparent drug overdoses and the problem doesn’t seem to be letting up. Most recently, singer Demi Lovato, who’s been known for her struggles with addiction over the years, was hospitalized yesterday after overdosing on drugs.

Emergency responders were called out to the singer’s home in the Hollywood Hills where 25-year-old Lovato was found unresponsive. She was given Narcan and was rushed to a local Los Angeles hospital where she is now in stable condition. Lovato has made her battle with addiction quite public, letting her fans around the world know the fight she engages in on a daily basis. The public believed Lovato had been sober for the past 6 years, but sources close to the singer report she still battled with her inner demons and “private pain.” A person close to Lovato said, “Things have been a total mess for months. She and her team severed ties, and they played a large part in getting her sober years ago. She hasn’t been in a good place.”

Other reports by people close to the singer said that her behavior leading up to her relapse were indicative of trouble brewing. This past June, the singer released a new song called “Sober,” where she revealed to the world that she had indeed relapsed and it’s almost a cry for help if you listen to the lyrics. Unfortunately, help didn’t come soon enough and we almost lost yet another shining star.

This world is a mess. Well, let me rephrase. This country is a mess. The United States of America was once one of the greatest nations in the world. We were an example of how awesome life could be in the free world. In the U.S.A., you could have anything you wanted…you just had to go out and get it. The American Dream. Presently, things are not as peachy. Other countries looking in on us are seeing a country being destroyed by addiction, the media, and in constant political turmoil. Instead of being the leader of the Western World, we’re now the leader in drug consumption, addiction rates, and overdose. How different our country has become. The U.S. consumes most of the world’s drug supply and the more we beg for mind altering, life numbing chemicals, the more we’re gonna get.
