I’m curious to see how this decade will be remembered in our history books. Will it be the decade that the country was delivered a sobering wake-up call when it comes to the opioid epidemic currently sweeping the country, the years in which we finally started laying the down the blueprint for handling addiction with the care and attention it needs? Or will it only be the beginning of something far more terrible and tragic?

Heroin still makes all the headlines. It’s the number one drug as far as related deaths are concerned and it’s the drug that also helped to spark the current opiate epidemic . It seems almost too perfect the way it happened.

It’s official: painkiller abuse kills more people in the U.S. than any other drug. Deaths from overdose exceed those from heroin and cocaine combined . The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) declared that the U.S. is in an epidemic of painkiller abuse.

Suncoast Rehabilitation Center has helped individuals through addiction to all types of drugs. Edibles are a new delivery system for one such drug – pot. What are marijuana edibles? These are cookies, candies, and other treats infused with THC.
