From the Darkness to the Light: How Narconon Changed My Life

Prior to coming to Narconon, I was in one of the darkest places a person can find themselves in; heroin addiction. My days consisted of waking up dope sick, struggling to get money, finding a dealer, and then nodding out for the rest of the day, only to repeat the process the next. I knew this lifestyle was killing me slowly, and I knew I needed help to get off the drugs.

I had a friend who had completed the Narconon program and I had seen how it completely changed his life and his entire outlook on it. His life seemed to be better than it was before doing drugs and I wanted that for myself. I made the decision to drive 9 hours to Clearwater to start the program. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t absolutely terrified of the withdrawal. I kept telling myself “if I stick through it, I’ll eventually start to feel better and begin enjoying life again.” Sure enough, and to my surprise, the methods used at Narconon made it the easiest withdrawal I had ever gone through.

I still remember coming out of withdrawal and cracking jokes with other students and it was the first time in years that I had laughed completely sober and that’s when I knew I was going to be okay. Narconon has given me the skills I need to be able to handle the situations in life that brought me down and caused me to dig deep into my mind to find out what caused me to be an addict in the first place.
