From Athletic Star to a Miserable Pain Killer Addiction—Now I’m Free
I grew up a straight-edged kid, drugs always felt dirty to me and I didn't associate with people who used them when I was younger. I was a super baseball player growing up and was very into sports, I was even drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers at one point. Arm injuries through high school and college derailed my baseball career and shut me down from the sport I loved. Doctors started prescribing me painkillers to deal with the pain from the injuries. Within three months I found myself addicted to painkillers and felt like I couldn't function without them.

If I didn't have my pills, I didn't feel like doing anything. I wouldn’t work without them and didn’t want to be around my family or friends, all I cared about was getting my pills. This eventually left me with no friends and a damaged relationship with my family. They were on the verge of giving up on me, but then we found Narconon Suncoast.
When I came to Narconon Suncoast, the staff welcomed me with open arms and appeared very happy to have me there. They didn’t treat me like a loser, but instead did everything possible to help me and support my needs during a very rough time in my life. I knew I was in the right place to get my life back on track.
This program really showed me self-control and how important it is to not let the negative issues in my life build-up to the point where I feel trapped. The staff helped me work through my issues and showed me how to live life for today and the ability to leave my struggles in the past. It is an amazing feeling knowing that I have the tools to deal with my problems so I can live a clean, healthy, and happy life for both myself and my family.
I have realized just how many more important things there are that I can be doing rather than wasting my whole life getting high all the time. This program has changed my life for the better, I can honestly say that there is nobody better to help you through these issues in life than the Narconon Staff, they genuinely care about each individual and gave me ample time in getting to the true reason I became addicted.
