Getting Sober Was the Best Decision!

getting sober was the best decision

When I was an addict, I felt like I couldn’t actually have anything. My addiction was full of loss: lost possessions, lost family and lost relationships. I was a heroin addict and the drug completely consumed my life. I went from being a good friend, son and student to doing anything I could, just to get my next fix. It’s almost as if nothing really mattered to me anymore and I was only driven by one purpose; to get high, numb everything out and keep going, even though I wasn’t going anywhere fast except toward the grave or prison.

My parents found Narconon Suncoast and gave me the opportunity to try and get clean. I decided to give it another try because I had nothing else to lose. During my program at Narconon, I learned why I used drugs and finally got to the root cause of a lot of my problems. The program helped to get rid of my cravings and to finally have control over my life again.

I completed the Narconon Suncoast program about three months ago and I’m proud to say that I’m happy, healthy, and most importantly, more than six months sober! At one point in my life, I never dreamed this was possible; that I would get off drugs and actually be happy! After so many years of hoping and praying that I would get sober, it finally happened! I also just recently bought my first car! It was a completely new experience! Instead of just taking handouts from my family I got a job, worked hard, saved my money and was able to buy a car, completely on my own. Back in the day, all of my money went toward drugs and doing everything I could to stay high.

Buying a car wasn’t a possibility when I was an addict. Now that I’m sober, I don’t just burn through money and waste it, chasing a high I could never fully achieve. I’m actually able to handle my finances properly, like an adult, since completing Narconon Suncoast and I feel really, really accomplished! Buying my first car is a huge milestone. All my friends who didn’t get lost in addiction were able to accomplish years ago, what I’m accomplishing now, so it’s a bittersweet feeling. I’m just so beyond happy that I finally made it to where I am now.

I see this car as a token of my sobriety and it’s something that I’ve worked really hard for. I feel a new sense of freedom that I’ve never felt before. None of this could have been possible had I not gotten sober and the tools I needed to stay sober and I have Narconon Suncoast to thank for it.

Thank you, Narconon Suncoast for getting me sober!
