Having been to rehab in the past, one graduate had doubts when arriving at the Narconon Suncoast program. Step by step, he went from feeling hopeless to feeling confident, and made some lifelong friends along the way.

Finding Strength in the First Steps

“When I first arrived at Narconon, I felt lost, unhealthy, confused, and hopeless. My first few days in Withdrawal felt lonely and awkward. I wasn’t eating much and didn’t really know what to expect this time around.

“As I made my way through the New Life Detoxification, I started feeling my body getting stronger and healthier. The Detox I/C really helped me get through this part effortlessly with her delicious daily smoothies, kind words, and positive attitude.

“I started socializing more and met some people I would definitely consider lifelong friends at this point. I started eating healthy and constantly adding workouts and daily movement.”

Finding Meaning in the Objectives

“As I made my way to Objectives, I thought to myself, ‘What is this?’

“But as I got through the course and started having deeper realizations after a conversation I had with the Supervisor, I found myself understanding how to apply the Objectives to daily life and past experiences.”

Looking at Old Patterns

“When I got to Life Skills, things felt a bit more laid-back. We were working at our own pace and digging into our past and the people in our lives.

“This really helped me look at the patterns and reasons I make some of the decisions I make.

“I feel more confident now about what I must do to right my wrongs.”

Building a Plan for the Future

“After working with the supervisor for a few days, coming up with a plan and a format I can follow to help me succeed, stay consistent, and sober once I am released, I feel confident that I can do this and make it stick this time.

“I feel more confident now about what I must do to right my wrongs.

“Overall, I feel like I had a great program.”

Recovery and Rehabilitation Takes More Than Withdrawal

One of the unique aspects of the program at Narconon Suncoast is that it does not stop after a person has withdrawn from the substances they were abusing. It goes a step further - several, actually.

After withdrawal, it starts with the deep-cleansing approach of the New Life Detoxification. This action is based on L. Ron Hubbard’s breakthrough discovery that LSD residues can remain in the body, particularly in fatty tissues, long after a person has stopped taking the drug.

This explained the flashbacks some experienced even years later. The residues could be released back into the bloodstream through increased circulation, exercise, or sweating, potentially contributing to unwanted effects. Further research within the Narconon program led to the discovery that other substances could also remain in the body and contribute to negative effects long after their use.

One of many steps, New Life Detoxification helps Narconon students address lingering effects associated with past drug and alcohol use and work toward reducing the possibility of future physical dependence with greater certainty.
