How Narconon Changed My Life 47 Years Ago

Bobby W., Narconon Suncoast

My name is Bobby and I graduated the Narconon program 47 years ago. Since that time I have been clean and have been working with Narconon for decades to help others achieve the same. This is my story:

I started using drugs at 14 years old while living on a farm in upstate New York. By the time I reached my first year in college I had formed an addiction to amphetamines and alcohol. In the coming years that addiction worsened as I dropped out of college and began to work various jobs. When you’re drunk all the time you don’t hold a job very long. By the time I was 25 years old I had done 38 past jobs.

In December of 1977 I was so depressed I did not want to leave my house. The addiction had hit such depth. I had organs that were failing and mentally and spiritually I felt destroyed.

I had a house on the lake and there was a long winding road to get to it. I was very drunk one day and I was driving like a mad man on this road, well above the speed limit. Someone saw me and when I pulled in front of my house he had tracked me down and was extremely angry. He was yelling at me with such force that it actually woke me up and when he said “there’s kids on this road and if you ever hit one their parents would never forgive you and you would never forgive yourself” that was my wake up call.

A friend of mine that I went to college with asked me if I wanted help and at that point I was completely ready. On Dec 11th 1977 I entered the Narconon Program and through the courses and counselling, little by little, I regained my physical wellbeing and mental stability.

The basic tools that I learnt at Narconon allowed me to build and run a 6 figure business in the coming years.

Honestly it was like a brand new life. To this day I look at my life as divided into two parts. The first part an absolute hell, the second part has been a life of production, hope, newfound skills and feeling the joy of helping other people.

Narconon is different than any program I have ever seen. It first handles and reverses the physical damage drugs have done. Then handles the mental and emotional factors to such a degree that it allows you to succeed in your life.

“I delivered drug education for Narconon and have been able to reach 13 million school children with the facts about drugs. I’ve helped thousands of addicts live a drug free life.”

After I finished my program I decided to join staff at Narconon because I saw such rapid, positive changes in people. It only made sense to me that that is what I wanted to do with my life. I have seen people who were practically brain dead, not only come back to life but go on to lead very successful lives for themselves and their families. I delivered drug education for Narconon and have been able to reach 13 million school children with the facts about drugs. I’ve helped thousands of addicts live a drug free life.

That is my story and I still consider it to be a miracle.
