I Finally Got My Family Back

I finally got my family back

“My life before coming to Narconon Suncoast was pure chaos. Since the age of 14, I would take whatever substance I could get my hands on. Throughout my twenties, I took pills and eventually switched my addiction to Meth in order to get off of the pills. During the next 7 years, everything really started to go downhill for me. I would go into blackouts and not remember what I had done for hours prior. It was “normal” for me to leave my family and be up for 8 or 9 days at a time. I remember getting ready to leave my house to go on one of my week-long binges and watching my wife cry through the kitchen window.

I couldn’t deal with the feelings of guilt that would take over me and chose to handle it by getting high as soon as I’d start to feel anything. No matter how much I tried to stop it, the noise and commotion in my mind were constant. My addiction felt like a monster that kept growing within me, bound and determined to destroy my family and my relationships. I knew I had to stop using and thought I could do it on my own, but also recognized that it would be a very difficult road.

“The first time I tried to quit, I went to a 12-step program for 18 days. I got absolutely nothing from it. I ended up coming here to Narconon Suncoast because my wife got an interventionist who I fought with, tooth-and-nail, at first. I tried to scare him off but he and my wife never gave up. They took all of my money away and cut off every avenue of escape that I possibly had. At that point, I knew I had to get myself clean in order to save myself and my family. I knew that if I didn’t stop, I was most certainly going to die.

“I’m glad to say that Narconon Suncoast took all of that noise out of my head and taught me how to deal with situations in life. The staff here taught me how to get through my problems instead of just running from them. Sauna helped me to feel physically better, more than I have in 25 years! After doing Objectives, the noise in my head that I was running from for so long went away. This is where I learned to get through my issues rather than running away from them. The Life Skills have taught me to be a productive member of society again and helped me to handle the problems I had been running away from all these years.

“I’m so happy to say that my wife will now have her husband back and my kids will have their father. After graduating, I plan on continuing to rebuild my life and fixing my family. If I had to say anything to addicts who are still suffering and want help, I’d tell them that there is no better treatment center out there than Narconon Suncoast.”
